Patti E. Prevett began painting space and science fiction art in 1979, and works
in acrylic with a water color wash technique. She is mainly interested in
planetscapes and stellar views with nebulas, but has found an audience painting
space ships such as Star Trek's Enterprise and the Space Shuttle.
The first art show that Patti displayed and sold artwork at was a NASFIC
convention in Austin, Texas in 1985. She sold her very first painting at that
convention. Since then she has attended several Texas area conventions with art
shows, including Contex, AggieCon, ArmadilloCon and Controll with great success.
Patti's artwork has appeared on convention program books for Contex X,
TrekFest 1992 and 1993, and she was the artist "Guest of Honor" for the 1992
Contex Convention held in Houston by Friends of Fandom. She has won several
first place ribbons over the years for work shown at Aggie Con starting in 1988.
Patti has also donated paintings to area science fiction clubs, some of which
have been used in fund raising raffles or sold at charity auctions. She has done
cover art for Lone Star Trek, a locally published Fanzine, and helped design
T-shirt art for TrekFest 1993, and the Starbase Houston club logo. Additionally,
Patti had a one person showing of her Trek Art at Space Center Houston during
their “Salute to Star Trek” in 1994.
During the summer of 2004 Patti showed her work at ApolloCon in Houston
TX and Conestoga 8 in Tulsa OK. She plans to attend both conventions again in
2005 and has been actively searching for other conventions with art shows. Two
other possible conventions with art shows are Revelcon 16 in Houston and
AggieCon 36 on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station TX.
